MS-ESS2-4: Cycling of Water Through Earth's Systems
Reflection: I really enjoyed this activity, and many students were engaged and excited to get started with their mini project. It gave the students a platform to combine creativity with fact and reestablish the basic ideas of the water cycle in a more interesting way. The downside of a project like this is the amount of time it takes in class. I gave the students the majority of the period to complete this assignment and they insisted on taking it home to complete. I am working towards my goal of trying to combine creativity with new scientific knowledge in a timely manner to keep my students engaged while targeting all types of learners in my classroom.
Hi! I really like your lesson plan idea for having students learn about the water cycle. I think this is a good way to engage students by having them learn about the different stages of the water cycle through a non-traditional format. This will allow them to learn the content while they improve their writing skills, especially because it is not a common essay format. I think it will help the students to work in pairs as well because they will be able to learn from one another, and finding a way to make it creative!
ReplyDeleteMy login still is acting funny, so this is Tim Heckman.
ReplyDeleteHello Colleen,
This was a idea for a lesson. As Jacqueline said, this really fosters the creativity of your students. Those who are more artistically inclined can really express themselves, those who have color printers can add images and diagrams, and students who focus on the scientific facts can focus on that portion. Overall, very nice idea!
